| Gee Fan Eng is an award-winning Malaysian illustrator and the creative force behind Minifanfan, a playful label guided by the motto “Happy Drawings for Happy People.” Based in the peaceful countryside of Perlis, she creates whimsical, heartfelt illustrations inspired by everyday moments, human connection, and the small wonders of life. Her work spans picture books, exhibitions, and collaborations with publishers and brands. Her debut children’s picture book, Frida Kahlo, published as part of the Pequeña & Grande series, has been reprinted multiple times and translated into more than twenty languages. Gee Fan’s work has been recognised by the Society of Illustrators, 3x3 Magazine, the World Illustration Awards, Communication Arts, Creative Quarterly, and Hiii Illustration, among others. Now a mother, she continues to share her work internationally while balancing her creative practice with family life, always hoping to create art that brings a smile and sparks a sense of wonder. |

Home Sweet Home
One quiet night, a little mushroom walks through the dark. Up ahead, a tiny firefly shines, bright and kind. Behind them, flowers wiggle and plants whisper, “You’re almost home!” The little mushroom smiles and keeps walking, following the firefly’s warm glow all the way back to its cozy home.
Watermelon Juice 1
Watermelons don't usually cry, but if they did, their tears would be as sweet and juicy as the fruit itself, and they'd be red like ruby!
Hotpot 2
They have a whimsical secret – their tears are warm and, when collected in a pot, it turns out to be a ‘hotpot’, creating a magical hot shower. In this heartwarming gathering, they find joy in their shared warmth.
You Always Melt Me
Some days, mama feels tired. Some days, mama feels a little grumpy. Then you come to me with a tiny flower in your little hand. You look up at me, and I can’t help but smile. And just like that, my heart softens again. You always melt me, without even trying.
When The World Split in Two
This piece began with a banana.Anyone who has lived with a two year old knows the rule. Bananas should stay whole. But sometimes it breaks, and suddenly the world splits in two.
From the outside, it looks like a meltdown over something small. A flop. Tears fall like weather. Adults rush in with logic and solutions, trying to restore order.
But the banana is rarely just a banana.
For a toddler, expectation and safety are closely tied together. When something breaks unexpectedly, it disrupts a fragile sense of control. What seems trivial to us can feel like real loss.
This work sees flop not as failure, but as feelings spilling over. It captures the moment when a small break feels too big to handle. It gently suggests that what brings the world back into place is not repair, but being seen and understood.
My Animal Neighbours
“My Animal Neighbours” is my first attempt at risograph printing. It marks my initial exploration of the medium, transforming my illustrations into captivating risograph prints. The outcome is pleasantly surprising, revealing the unique charm of the risograph process.
The Creative Mess
I collaborated with Malaysian stationery brand Ana Tomy to create planner covers for its artist collection, which features creatives from around the world. Inspired by the time spent at home during the pandemic, I drew from my daily routine and the familiar messiness of a cluttered desk. Using a vibrant colour palette and everyday objects, I created designs that feel both calming and energising—small moments of joy to accompany users as they plan their day.
The Rooms
The COVID-19 lockdown has had a significant impact on my lifestyle and mental health. Initially, the changes made me feel anxious and uneasy, and my room, where I feel most comfortable, became a cage. However, I later embraced the change and found inspiration in recording my overwhelming emotions through my illustration work.Our room is a unique place that allows us to escape the outside world and focus on other significant things in our lives. Room decor reflects a person's taste and personality, and the more time we spend at home, the closer it reflects who we are. A diverse lifestyle inspires people to be more receptive to new possibilities and experiences.
Taste cannot be defined; if we define good taste, it becomes dull, lacks creativity, and loses its uniqueness. Like our room, it's the most beautiful place for us, but it may not be the best for others.
