I'm Chao, an illustrator from China. I'm good at seeking creative inspiration from life and creating profound and interesting works from multiple perspectives. I like expressing profound topics in a light-hearted and humorous way, such as the bizarre and the nonsensical. The forms of my works are not limited to paper paintings, clay, and ceramics.

RUN RUN RUN

The image of a rabbit that looks like a dog was created by me during the covid. At that time, life seemed to have come to a standstill and all plans were disrupted. I didn't know where to go or what to do, but there was always a force in my heart that wanted to break through my body. So I created this image of a rabbit running forward. There was doubt and lack of confidence, but I still chose to run forward.

HUG HUG HUG

HUG this painting is an extension of the RUN series. The rabbit gains energy in nature, becomes more determined, grows new arms, embraces everything, and accepts everything that happens.

RUN

I'm still exploring the meaning of "running". It can be running away or the operation of a machine, or fitness exercises or more. I want to find the switching of my own state in the context of "running". No matter how I explain this word, it's very fascinating to me because I like the feeling of energy flowing, which makes me feel wonderful.

Just dance 1

This group of works was created in the form of riso printing. In the Chinese context, "dance" and "martial arts" have similar pronunciations. The two images in this group of works both present a blurry scene of dancing and fighting, confusing the audience to figure out whether they are happily dancing or engaged in a black humor style of fighting.

The star postman 1

The Star Postman Series is my ceramic creation work. The flying birds are postmen and the stars are tokens. The flying birds shuttle through the universe, flying over islands, forests, villages, and towards the edge of the universe. Each ceramic work is a postcard sent back by the flying bird, recording the stories that happened during its journey.
