Pixaru is a pixel art project created by Daniel Tito, an Indonesian artist who transforms cities, everyday life, and playful imagination into handcrafted pixel artworks. From isometric cityscapes to expressive portraits, each piece celebrates the charm of storytelling through pixels.

Pixo Place: KL

Pixel Place: Kuala Lumpur is the first artwork in my collectible city series.

I’ve always loved how a single pixel can become part of something much bigger. Every detail in this piece is carefully placed to celebrate the beauty, memories, and everyday life of Kuala Lumpur. Rather than creating a perfect version of the city, I simply wanted to capture it as it feels.

I hope this is the beginning of a journey to explore more cities through pixels. Pixel Place: Bangkok is currently in progress, and I’m excited to continue this series with the hope of presenting it at BKKIF.

The Pixcity

The Pixcity is an isometric pixel artwork inspired by my love for anime and fictional worlds.

I imagined a city where all of my favorite characters could live together, each bringing their own personality and story into the same place. Every building, street, and tiny pixel is carefully crafted to create a world that feels lively, playful, and full of small discoveries.

I hope each pixel invites viewers to explore the city and find something new every time they look.

Pix: Cat House

Pix: Cat House is a pixel art piece inspired by the cats who have become part of my everyday life.

Living with many cats has filled my home with countless little moments—some playful, some chaotic, and many unforgettable. This artwork is my way of preserving those memories, one pixel at a time. I hope every tiny detail reflects the warmth, joy, and personality that our cats bring into our lives.

Peace Protocol

Peace Protocol is my first isometric pixel artwork, originally released at REKA Design 2025.

The piece is inspired by three countries that have left a lasting impression on me—Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Each place gave me different memories, cultures, and experiences, shaping the way I see the world.

Through this artwork, I imagined an ideal world where these memories come together in harmony. Peace Protocol is my personal vision of a place where different cultures, people, and stories can coexist, connected one pixel at a time.

PIX 76: Gundam Boy

Pix 76: Gundam Boy is a character piece inspired by my love for mecha design and pixel art.

With this artwork, I explored how my signature visual language could be translated into a pixel character, using bold geometric lines and an isometric-inspired structure. It became an experiment in balancing nostalgia with my own contemporary style.

The piece has been released as a collectible art print, and each edition includes an augmented reality (AR) experience, allowing the artwork to extend beyond the printed format.

Pixo Place: Toraja

Toraja Synthwave is a tribute to Toraja, my hometown and the place where my journey began.

The artwork reimagines the traditional Tongkonan house through my own visual style, combining pixel art with a vibrant synthwave atmosphere. It is a way of celebrating my roots while exploring how cultural heritage can be expressed through a contemporary aesthetic.

For me, this piece is a connection between memory, identity, and imagination—bringing a familiar place into a new world, one pixel at a time.

Pixo Face: The Girl

Pixo Face is a portrait series that explores a more playful side of my pixel art practice.

Alongside Pixel Place, this series reflects my belief that no matter how iconic or admired someone is, we all remain ordinary people—always learning, adapting, and driven by curiosity. The signature drooling expression symbolizes that childlike sense of wonder and the excitement of discovering something new.

Through this series, I reinterpret influential figures, iconic characters, and artworks that inspire me, transforming them into my own playful pixel portraits while keeping their recognizable identity.

Pixalisa

Pixo Face: Good Night!

Pixo Face: DJ is a playful self-portrait imagining an alternate version of myself as a DJ.

I’m not actually a DJ, but I thought it would be fun to imagine what that version of me might look like. Like the rest of the Pixo Face series, this piece embraces curiosity, humor, and the freedom to explore different identities through pixel art.

Sometimes it's simply fun to create the version of yourself that only exists in your imagination.

Pixo Place: Pnina

Pixo Place: Pnina is a quiet landscape inspired by the beauty of ordinary moments.

Named after Pnina, meaning "pearl," this artwork reflects the idea that even the simplest places can hold something precious. A vast sky, open land, and soft light come together to capture a moment that feels calm, familiar, and easy to overlook.

Rather than searching for extraordinary places, this piece is a reminder that beauty often exists in the spaces we pass by every day. Sometimes, all it takes is slowing down and looking a little longer.
