MASKS is a movement from Syarawi Studios, a small art studio in Kuala Lumpur co-founded by Azlan Syarawi and Sara-Ann Yong. Azlan is an artist and architect. Sara-Ann is the curator and graphics lead, also architecturally trained, the collectibles brain of the brand with a strict but playful eye. MASKS began as digital art and drew collectors in the US, Malaysia, and Ireland, with work shown in New York. It now moves into physical, hand-finished form: art prints, artwear, and 3D-printed, hand-painted masks in small numbered editions.

[Ghosts of Asia] Pontianak

A post-cyberpunk reimagining of the classic Malaysian ghost. The piece captures a spirit of grief and vengeance, fusing the solemn texture of traditional mourning attire with synthetic, bleeding cybernetics.

[Ghosts of Asia] Penanggal

A terrifying, yet sophisticated, modern interpretation of the Southeast Asian nocturnal vampire.

[Ghosts of Asia] Pocong

A study in confinement and mortality inspired by the Indonesian shroud ghost. By reducing the figure to a tightly bound, elegant silhouette, it captures the heavy emotional weight of transition and death.

[Ghosts of Asia] Genderuwo

An untamed manifestation of raw primal instinct. It represents the ancient, shadowed ape-demon of Javanese lore, capturing a sense of psychological dread that modern technology cannot domesticate.

[Ghosts of Asia] Jiang Shi

A futuristic take on the Chinese hopping vampire. It serves as a commentary on state control and the loss of autonomy, where traditional official garments and a sealing talisman act as restraints on an individual trapped between life and death.

[Ghosts of Asia] Kappa

A cybernetic transformation of the Japanese water demon (yōkai). It reimagines the creature's traditional dependency on nature and water, shifting its survival elements into a cold, synthetic environment.

[MASKS] Temple of Mask Genesis

A symmetrical architectural study that serves as a monument to creation. It explores the intersection of industry, ritual, and mechanical structure within a grand, dark sanctuary.

[MASKS] Giger Redux

A tribute to the biomechanical legacy of H.R. Giger.

[MASKS] Saikou

A high-energy celebration of pop art, mecha aesthetics, and media consumption. It serves as an optimistic manifesto where technology is embraced as a loud, vibrant extension of self-expression.

[MASKS] Hera

A grand manifestation of mythic authority and cosmic divinity. The composition uses high-contrast light and vast cosmic imagery to elevate a classical archetype into a permanent sanctuary of imagination.
