Working from distinct visual languages yet united by a shared commitment to reclamation, Woman Create and Kevin Roque unravel the images, histories, and systems that shape visual culture. Their practices confront inherited narratives of gender, identity, and memory, revealing how what is celebrated, forgotten, or erased continues to define the present.

Woman Create transforms magazines, Barbies, and feminine objects into intricate femmages that deconstruct traditional femininity. Through collage, embroidery, and beadwork, her textures question and reconstruct the ideals of beauty, desire, and womanhood embedded. Rooted in personal experience and contemporary visual culture, her works challenge dominant perceptions of women's bodies while reclaiming craft traditions historically associated with domestic labor, elevating them as a powerful form of artistic and feminist expression.

Devoid of color yet brimming with a spectrum of both brazen and incognito, Kevin Roque's works map and outline various ideologies through a variety of processes –from drawing (tracing a line), collage (cutting the edges), video and digital work (tracing data and the image). Together, these edges wrap around and form the bigger picture that plays out social truths: harsh and unimaginable, yet palpable and tangible. Considering elements from the past as spectral beings weaving in and out and in between time, Roque deconstructs the colonial by building up what is hidden, overlooked, or erased into its own future form.

Together, their works reveal that images are never neutral. Whether drawn from mass-produced icons or historical archives, both artists treat visual culture as a contested site where power is constructed, inherited, and resisted. Through acts of cutting, layering, and reconstruction, they transform images into new narratives that challenge dominant ways of seeing.
