Mashpatooties is a Malaysian Illustrator who enjoys telling stories that are inspired by real life experiences. Her art brings a touch of wonder and peculiarity to everyday moments, turning the mundane into something magical. Through words and illustrations, she explores life’s ups and downs and shares her quiet observations that shape everyday life. Her works <Peculiar Sightings> and <The Thing About Grief> explore themes of longing, loss and learning to accept change by documenting things that once were.

Kidnapped Bride

The neighbour’s dogs have been barking all night. People say dogs see things, things that don’t register to the human eye. I looked out the window one night and saw a procession of people on the neighbour’s roof.
I don’t think they were people at all.

Creatures

I keep seeing strays around the little red shrines down the road. Mum says it's cause they shelter from the rain but I think they're friends with the spirits.

After School

It's finally the weekend tomorrow, the walk home from school feels lighter, the sun seems to shine brighter and best of all NO HOMEWORK. The little girl falls into a daydream, her mind wandering ahead of all the fun to be had at home.

First Flight

The Little Witch never expected to float all the way up to the Moon. But when the Moon hung round and low in the sky, she found herself unable to resist its pull.

Food Chain

Is this how is feels to have a cat? Spending all my money on wet food and scooping poop everyday?

Gummy Bears

When sleep grows weary, the bears slip in, whispering to me dreams of golden fields, cotton candy skies and endless laughter.

Monday Blues

The world is moving at a pace I can't keep up with, so let's just stay in bed a little longer.

Monsoon Dreams

It’s been raining all week, the clothes have been left out to dry since forever. As she drifts into a nap, waves begin to lap at her ankles, the tide slowly crashing against her sofa. When will the monsoon season end?

Sleep Tight

Sweet dreams, dear child. Hold your dreams tight, and don't let the dark lean in too close.

Sleepwalker

The city has learned that some dreams wander.
And it is kinder to just watch them pass.
