Biography

​
Pakatip is originally from Bangkok, Thailand. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Painting and a Master’s degree in Textiles & Fashion. She began her career as a designer and then pursued further studies in accessory making in Florence, Italy, before continuing her career in design.

During the pandemic, she began illustrating the daily flowers in the garden of the house where she was staying. She found a wonderful environment to combine her love for the natural world with art and design. Her work seamlessly merges elements from each genre, offering a unique perspective that resonates with a wide range of audiences. She later started teaching groups and collaborating with venues and events, which led her to a new career path in teaching botanical art to children and adults across various cultures.
Pakatip always works with local plants and wildflowers. She is often captivated by the striking beauty and remarkable resilience of plants in urban environments. “Through her art, she invites viewers to pause and appreciate the delicate beauty that often goes unnoticed in everyday life. By creating botanical art, she hopes to inspire others to become more aware of the plants around them and to be moved by their beauty.”

Etlingera elatior (Torch Ginger)

My painting of the Etlingera elatior (Torch Ginger ) captures the bold colours and intricate structure of this tropical plant. I focused on the vibrant pink-red petals with touches of yellow, bringing out the unique beauty of the flower. The composition includes different stages of the plant, from the roots to the budding flower, full bloom, and seed head, offering a complete view of its life cycle. I have always been drawn to the Torch Ginger’s striking structure and colours. The flower is not only visually captivating but also used in traditional cooking.

Purple Dendrobium Orchid

My painting "Purple Dendrobium Orchid" depicts a Dendrobium species commonly found throughout Thailand and easily accessible in both rural areas and major cities. I am drawn to its simplicity and the striking presence of its purple hues. The elegant, flowing curves of the plant are carefully observed and rendered from a real specimen that I purchased from a local orchid market near my home. Through this piece, I aim to illustrate the life cycle of the orchid, capturing its gradual development , from the exposed roots, to the emerging buds, and finally to the fully blossomed flowers.

My inspiration for painting Celosia argentea comes from its striking beauty and remarkable resilience in urban environments. I am captivated by its relaxed, flowing shapes, which create a sense of tranquillity within the chaos of city life. Despite being frequently removed by gardeners, this resilient plant often reemerges in the most unexpected places, such as cracks in the pavement or forgotten corners , showcasing its persistence to thrive against all odds.

My painting of Hibiscus sabdariffa (Roselle) captures the plant’s unique, striking shape and its rich, deep red hues. I focused on the intricate structure of the buds and the soft, delicate petals of the flower. I was inspired by its distinctive form and the intense red colour of the plant. The Roselle holds a special place in South East Asian culture, often used in traditional drinks. I have loved its refreshing sour taste since I was a child and I wanted to bring out its natural beauty and charm in this piece.

I am inspired by the serene beauty and symbolic significance of the lotus flower in my cultures, where it represents purity, enlightenment, and rebirth. My fascination with the natural world’s intricacies and the profound meanings embedded in flora drove me to create this work. This painting invites viewers to embark on their own journey of reflection and inner peace.

This hand-painted watercolour fashion illustration is inspired by Alexander McQueen's iconic Fall/Winter 2006 collection, The Widows of Culloden. Captivated by the collection's poetic storytelling and masterful craftsmanship, I reinterpreted one of McQueen's unforgettable silhouettes through the fluidity and transparency of watercolour.
