having a blast

I created this piece for the DRAW exhibition (2018), employing the doodle style that comes naturally to me. It conveys the joy of life, music, and the interconnectedness of friends—individuals who, despite their differences, coexist harmoniously.

Biker

This piece comes from the Animals exhibition held in 2016. I enjoyed experimenting with giving cute animals human behaviors, and I found the result fascinating.

Inspiration

I used to write and illustrate a column titled "a spiritual day" for a day magazine. I wrote it continuously for seven years, eventually compiling the work into a book that won an Outstanding Book Award from the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). For me, writing that column was a fascinating journey of thought.

Lively up yourself

I created this painting to convey the vitality of existence across all forms of life, using vibrant colors and fluid lines to present the harmonious blend of coherence and contradiction found in everyday life.

Uguisudani

I tried sketching the landscape around Uguisudani Station using black ink. I found it fun and not too difficult. There are so many places in Japan worth sketching; I think I’d like to travel around and draw various landscapes.

One shot

I used to have a weekly column in Matichon Weekly magazine—a gig I really enjoyed because I got to draw and color cartoons every week (and get paid for it, too). I kept at it for over a decade; looking back now, I realize I created a huge number of characters, and I love every single one of them.

Izakaya⁶

These days, I draw every day—mostly while waiting for my students to arrive for class. It feels like a conversation with myself; I never know what I’m going to draw beforehand, but the image simply emerges once I start. It is a process without a specific brief, yet I feel that each drawing holds a certain beautiful reason within the way it makes me feel.

Shirakawako in Summer

Another thing I really love to do is landscapes. Beyond the fact that I don't have to overthink—simply letting my mind and hand flow with the atmosphere before me—the happiness I derive from it is truly wonderful

Fish in the sky

I had the opportunity to create illustrations for the music video for Getsunova's song "Pla Bon Fah" (Fish in the Sky). I really enjoyed the experience and feel very proud of it

นิทานสระ

Creating children's storybooks is another project I’ve had the opportunity to work on, and it has been incredibly fun. I love both reading and illustrating, and collaborating with talented storytellers to produce a finished book brings a truly wonderful feeling—knowing I’m playing a part in the intellectual growth of the nation's youth.
