Pupae.piece is a Thai illustrator, writer, and mother whose practice begins with everyday life. Through drawing and journaling, she explores memory, emotions, identity, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.

Her relationship with art was rekindled in 2021 while living in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, with her Bangladeshi spouse and their infant child. Away from her previous career in journalism, she began drawing every day as a personal practice—using sketchbooks to document ordinary moments, process emotions, and better understand herself. During this time, she discovered that drawing was not only a creative act but also a way of healing, building self-confidence, and making sense of life.

Her work moves between digital illustration, paper collage, paper-cut art, and zines. Writing plays an equally important role in her practice, with words and images growing together to tell intimate and reflective stories. In 2026, she established her own creative practice and began embracing the identity of being an artist and illustrator.

Bangladesh and I (2023)

Marrying a foreigner brought me joy, appreciation, fear, anxiety, and curiosity all at once. It was not easy to live with a newborn in a country that was completely different from my own. Yet I found so much joy in observing and drawing the beautiful everyday objects around me.

That was the beginning of noticing my surroundings more carefully and appreciating their beauty, their function, and their essence. Nothing felt too ordinary or meaningless anymore.

It was also the moment I became aware of how making art could nurture my inner self. That realization encouraged me to keep drawing and writing.

Dida Kitchen (2023)

Didi is a granma in Bangla word. In Apr 2023, my 10 months old son and I visited Dida and Dada house in Fatehpur, Bangladesh. Even the house is in typical design I see in Bangladesh and Thailand but many items and how it arranged attracted my attention quite a lot. I love it. Especially, the kitchen tools: knife, water machine or the strove. It made me realized that even most of these tools are differents from my own way of life but these tools keep people alive and survive as same as what I do in Thailand. Difference is beautiful and, human being is beautiful too.

How Are You and Happy New Year (2026)

Every year, I send New Year cards to friends and people I deeply appreciate. For 2026, I designed a New Year Mail Club—a small package containing a letter, stickers, and a notepad. Telling the story of my journey and keen to know theirs. I believe those words wouldd support them on the day they feel have no one.

Every illustration was created using paper-cut techniques before being adapted into different printed formats. Seeing how happy the recipients were when the package arrived filled my heart with gratitude and reminded me how art can become a meaningful way to connect with people.

Travel Journal: Ubon Ratchathani (2025)

This was my first travel journal created digitally instead of making in on paper. I traveled to Ubon Ratchathani to attend my brother-in-law's family gathering. We spent wonderful time together, creating many joyful and unforgettable memories.

Every object I drew in this journal felt beautiful to me. Looking back at these pages brings all those memories to life again and reminds me to appreciate the simple happiness that life offers. Most importantly, the family.

Notification (2026)

One day, while working with my mom at our family newspaper, we simply shared files via AirDrop. Suddenly, an idea popped into my head.

What if life had pop-up notifications like that? What would they look like?

I wish supportive notifications could appear whenever I face challenges or feel discouraged. They would remind me that I am not alone—that I still have myself.

Here is nontification:
1.Support Storage is Full – Your storage of encouragement and support is full. A reminder that you can always be your own source of support, and that the encouragement you carry can also be shared with others.

2.Reminder – A gentle reminder to check in with yourself and remember the things you truly want to do. There's no rush—it simply nudges you from time to time. And once you've done it, the reminder disappears.

3.Low Battery – Feeling tired is your sign that your energy is running low. In that moment, what will you choose: keep pushing and slip into Survival Mode, or pause, recharge, and continue when you're ready?

4.Self-Love Dropssss – We all have so much love to give to the people and the world around us, yet we often place ourselves last. This notification reminds you that self-love is always available to you—you simply choose whether to dismiss it or accept it.

MeKamLungJai (2026)

MeKamLungJai is a Thai phrase that means "I feel encouraged" or "My spirit has been lifted."

It is one of my favorite expressions. I often say it when someone gives me support, and I also say it to myself.

"Thank you. I feel MeKamLungJai."
It keeps me keep going.

This series features seven encouraging words that I want to offer to both myself and others, accompanied by flowers. Flowers represents it own beauty and timing to bloom, then later wilted.

Wordings include:

ร่ำรวย ม่วนจอย - Be rich of Joy
ทุกคุณค่าเราคู่ควร - Every blessing and value, we deserve them all.
ขอให้พรนับพันเป็นของเธอ - May All The thousand blessings be yours.
ชีวิตไปต่อได้เสมอ - Life goes on OR Life always find a way.
พอใจเบาเราก็พอใจ - Heart at Ease, the contentment aries.

เจอนี่ที่ไทย - Journey in Thailand (2026)

I fall in love in Thainess by objects and stuffs around me. Color, format, designs or pattern or how it place just attract me and make me smile and feel proud to be shared in this culture. I like Thai style vibe that shows joy, simplicity and humor at the same time. This work, I painted left papers and added the details of each items Thai style I have seen.

Morning Wake Up Cup (2026)

Coffee is my morning cup I make everyday but it is not my ritual period. Meaning that, I just make it. However, I am pretty boring sometimes to see them in corner with less color except black and silver.

One day, I joined the mail club groub that we share the letter within group member. I was assigned to created the picture with M and N letter. I think about my morning making coffee as the first thing of the day.

In my head that moment, I just thought about what if my coffee tools turn into colorful color the way I like. And, here they are. This work introduced me into the new phase of work such as, painting my leftove papers with new color and cut it. And, I can use art to visualize the items I would like to own. It kind of fun work.

Shewtong Noodles (2026)

My friends launched their own Burmese food business featuring Shewtong Noodles, one of my favorite dishes.

To celebrate and support them, I created this illustration as a gift. It was my way of sharing encouragement through art while celebrating a meaningful milestone in their journey.

Motherhood Mode (2023)

This series began as doodles inspired by my everyday life as a new mother. Motherhood brought moments of pride, joy, bonding, exhaustion, and frustration. All of these emotions coexist. They are part of the experience shared by mothers, fathers, and everyone who takes care of children.

Through these drawings, I wanted to document those ordinary yet meaningful moments that often go unseen.
