My name is Kate Mao Mao, and I am a visual artist and illustrator.
My work explores the connection between emotions, identity, and the beauty of everyday life. I create delicate, dreamlike illustrations inspired by human forms, nature, and the small details I observe around me.

Through soft lines, feminine imagery, and a blend of Eastern and Western aesthetics, I try to capture inner worlds - feelings, memories, and moments that are difficult to express with words.

lotus gathering

A scene of connection between women, nature, and tradition. Inspired by the symbolism of the lotus as a flower of purity and renewal, the artwork captures a quiet moment of offering, presence, and harmony.

arranging silence

A quiet study of presence, care, and the intimate connection between a person and nature. The act of arranging flowers becomes a moment of stillness, it’s a ritual of slowing down, observing, and creating harmony from small details.

market guardian

A glimpse into everyday life and the unexpected beauty found in ordinary places. The small dog resting among fresh vegetables transforms a simple market scene into a warm, intimate moment.

the shrine cat

A quiet scene exploring the harmony between nature, objects, and living beings. The statue, greenery, and curious cat create a moment of stillness, a small encounter where the ordinary becomes poetic.

cat in the blossoming tree

A quiet celebration of rest and belonging. Nestled among blooming branches, the sleeping cat becomes part of the landscape, reminding us that peace is often found in the simplest moments.

greetings to spring

A fleeting encounter filled with curiosity and joy.

under the rain

A reflection on care expressed through small gestures. Holding an umbrella over a cat, the figure offers protection without expecting anything in return.

soft bloom

A portrait of calm and quiet confidence. The orchid becomes an extension of the figure rather than an ornament, symbolizing beauty that grows naturally from within.

hands that remember

A study of tenderness and intention. The intertwined hands gently holding a lotus express care, connection, and the fragile beauty of what we choose to protect.

grace that remains

A celebration of beauty beyond youth. The flower resting in silver hair speaks of resilience, memory, and the quiet elegance that time brings. The work invites us to see aging not as fading, but as another form of blooming.
