My name is Opel. I'm a film director for t.v. commercial.Recently, i stepped back from commercial work, which have given me more time to draw. Creating illustrations has become a quieter, more personal practice for me , and i find in seeing my drawings exist simply on Paper, away from screen. My work is inspired by everyday moments and what naturally appears in my life at a given time. I enjoy drawing portraits, animals, objects, hand-drawn textures and imperfect lines keep things human and intentional.Colors exploration plays and important role in my process.

MAO

I bought this Mao doll during a trip to china.Over the years it became worn and tattered, and eventually reach the point where it had to be thrown away. Before saying goodbye, I made this drawing to preserve the memory of it.

chef

Salt and Pepper. Two quiet companions found on nearly every Western dining table. Though modest in appearance, they are indispensable to chefs and diners, standing by to complete a dish with just a few simple shakes

botox

Wrinkles:proof that time is working exactly as intended. The only remaining question is whether to accept the evidence or call Botox for a second opinion.

tora

Saw Hariko Tora paper marche Tigers everywhere while exploring old flea market in Tokyo. At that time, I convinced myself i didn't need one. Later, I realized I was wrong. This drawing is the consequence of that decision.

Grey

Grey was a big grey korat cat who looked annoyed most of the time. he tolerated affection occasionally, disliked being picked up, and preferred to make his own rules. this was one of his favorite poses, i drew him because o miss him-and because he would probably disapprove of being forgotten

monk

A memory from my partner's time in the monkhood. Watching him sweep fallen leaves brought and unexpected sense of joy. It was a simple reminder that mindfulness can be practiced anywhere-even with a broom in hand.

home

From "Whispers from Fur & Feather", a zine about all the quiet things that live in bodies and never get said. A hermit crab carries its home wherever it goes, yet must leave each one behind to keep growing. beneath it, the words: " Every home I find, I must leave behind."

mojito

A Mojito used to be my favourite beachside drink. Now that i no longer drink alcohol. This mocktail version has taken its place. The mint. the line. the passion fruit, and the feeling of summer are still there.

furhat

A tribute to a friend's ever-growing collection of wigs. For reasons I can no longer remember, I started calling them " fur hats." The name has survived longer than most of the hairstyles.

blueprint

Scales, Bones and Whispers. An A3 art print assembled from animal drawings that first appeared in one of my zine. A gathering of creatures, fragments, and quiet stories that seemed to belong together.
