Greeting earthlings! I'm Pink. I'm queer nonbinary (she/they). I am currently 21 years old. I dropped out of university to become a mixed media artist for over a year now. I started being a zine maker at the end of last year. Most of the content in my work is about mental illness, internal pain, trauma, healing journey, queer feminism, non-sexual nude, anti-gen-Ai, deep emotions, dreams and desires. I have a lot of love for all kinds of art. Most of the techniques in my work are traditional handcraft, using loud neon colors and eye-hurting pink, always utilizing no fewer than 5 materials in a single piece.

I am someone who doesn't really like to sketch before working on the actual piece. Once I get the concept, I mostly do it according to what's in my head at the moment, preferring freehand and trial and error as my heart desires. Importantly, I cannot separate myself from my art. The work is me, and I am the work; everything comes from the deepest part of my heart.

I believe that nothing will replace the desire to create of a human soul and make all things from scratch by hands with devotion.

To be queer is to be creative!

A(ctual) i(telligence)

"Time will erase any trace of everything that ever existed but the yearn to create and be remembered by humans will continue to live on."

Amidst a world in the era of technology, where artificial intelligence "art" spreads across the internet like a plague, this A(ctual) i(ntelligence) mixed-media zine was created to take a stand and speak up that nothing can replace the soul, the desire and artistic creativity of humans. It aims to express my love and passion for various forms of handmade art that I can create by myself. All the materials that I used to make this zine were passed down from Aunt Nui, a distant relative of mine, who used handmade crafts as her sole mental anchor while undergoing chemotherapy for 14 years. Now, that determination to create art and those materials have been passed down to me. For this reason, I will carry on Aunt Nui's intention and dedicate myself to continuing to create work with my own two hands.

When Angel Loses Its Wings VOL.2

When angel loses its wings, an A1 freehand zine was made from a single acrylic marker and a big piece of leftover paper. Inspired by the first ever piece that I created as P1NKC0MET. It was created after nearly a month of bed rotting, finally finding that spark of light to pursue an art career once again after passing through a desire to bring life to an end. It is quite similar to a bird whose wings have been clipped, or one could even say a hopeless angel tearing off her own wings. She fell down from the sky, unable to fly as her heart desired, while the musical notes of Beethoven Sonata No. 8 Op. 13 (Pathetique) began to play. Hoping for life to end along with the well played melody, it did not turn out as wished. She lived on, even if she didn't want to, always trying to breathe and wait for tomorrow, until the moment she desired to feel alive and take care of that little girl in her heart again. Now, that angel is ready to grow new wings again and fly higher than ever before.

Blinded like a moth drawn to flames

This artwork was made from spray paint and fabric dye on a one-meter piece of raw canvas. It was drawn and sprayed purely based on emotion, without any thought, simply out of a desire to let out anger and disappointment from repeated failures—whether being rejected by art markets, galleries, or even artist residencies. Confused about what went wrong and feeling hopeless from starting from zero with no one to guide the way, I did not know which direction to move forward. Yet, the desire to create art was too overwhelming to explain in words. I have often been called an ambitious person who always aims too high. The effort to do everything bigger than I could even imagine throughout the past has brought me countless pains, like the instinct of a moth blinded by a shining flame even though it knows it will die from excruciating pain. Despite knowing that the future in the art industry will be more difficult than I expect, I am ready to crash right into it and give it my absolute all.

Home of a soul

From my belief that we are merely a cluster of energy, or a "soul," born into a body due to a mother giving birth, I am just a consciousness living in a physical body that I could not choose. Therefore, my definition of "Home" refers to the body. The body is the first and the last home that I will live in during this lifetime. Without this home, my existence would not be able to continue.

This artwork was created by using a female body in a fetal position, gently embracing her own heart—which, in this context, is an endlessly shining soul. The bright red background resembles floating inside a mother's womb, using beadwork and embroidery to represent the delicate, complex, and fragile soul. At the same time, a sense of sadness within the image might be inevitably felt, because the relationship between me and this home is not quite perfect. It is a home that is not beautiful according to society's beauty standards, so I tried to change the home based on external opinions. I was ashamed to continue living in this home, but no matter what, I could not satisfy anyone no matter how hard I tried. So, I try to love this home as much as I possibly can, because I only have this one single home.

BORN QUEER

This piece was inspired by discomfort with my own body and feelings during my childhood—a young child who wished to have no breasts, or even to be as lean and tall as a boy, along with a sense of not belonging to my hometown, or anywhere in society at all, such as searching Google for "Is having a crush on a girl friend a sin? How to fix it?".
Growing up, I came to realize that I wasn't strange in the slightest; I am simply queer. So, there are no longer any boundaries or standards to measure me as a freak or deviant. BORN QUEER is a mix of uniqueness and countless possibilities into the human body, defying binary norms and gathering them in one place—such as wisdom tooth, grasshopper legs instead of arms,a morning star ball joints, and a doll-like body, resembling a child bringing various kinds of toys together to create a new one. This is because gender diversity can go as far as a child's imagination, expressed through mixed media with lino print in secondhand frames, decorated with a glue gun in the signature pattern of my work, and polished with metallic powder.

Hollow body

"Hollow Body" was created to speak out about the entertainment industry and how companies take advantage of young women with big dreams and passion by using them as a hollow body to project anything the companies want them to be and the public to see. Without any power to resist, being inhumanely criticized by society just because the labels wanted engagement, views, and money from the pain of dreaming young girls. Nowadays, people are ready to hate and tear apart female singers and actresses simply because of rumors, leaving scars that stay with them forever. Just like the inspiration for this work, Adela, a Slovakian female singer, was condemned by society due to negative clout-chasing editing from a survival show, even though she wasn't at fault in the slightest. Yet, she chose to find beauty and embrace her scars and continue to pursue her dreams with devotion. So I embroidered stars around the big scar with beads, just like the way she did with her scars.

Rotten figs

“I saw my life branching out before me like a green fig tree in the story” Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar 1963

The fig tree analogy has been stuck with me since the first time I read it. I have never felt so related to a book before. So many beautiful dreams appeared before me. I wanted to do everything, so I chose to do nothing at all except let time pass by, letting the figs ripen and rot on the tree just like the dreams I threw into the trash. It reminds me of the many successes I would have achieved if I had actually done something. My life from childhood until the age of twenty was full of dreams, whether being an astronaut, a doctor, a marine biologist, a zoo keeper, a singer, or an artist. But the one with the highest possibility was probably being a physics engineer like my father. My father taught me physics and electrons ever since I entered grade 7, especially about circuit building. He would praise me, saying that I would do it well if I followed in his footsteps. Of course, it didn't turn out that way, because now I took my lead soldering skills from my teenage years and mixed them with my art. A gigantic strangler fig made of lead, tightly wrapping and entangling a woman to keep her in place, motionless, bearing full figs all over the tree to represent the paths and possibilities that could happen in life—yet they will eventually rot and wither away.

The great black hole

The great black hole, a mixed media painting, was inspired by my grandma who entered the labor system at a very young age.
The underweight body of a woman hugging herself, with three breasts to represent womanhood forced into motherhood since youth. A gaping, torn wound on the back, like wings (dreams) being ripped away, unable to regrow or fly as heart desires. Pins and plasters are used to bind and heal the wound together, conveying a labor system that inflicts wounds too large to heal—resembling fabric repair where, if only pins are used, no matter the reason, the fabric will gradually tear bit by bit and open up anyway, just like laborers who have to work to the point of death with no time to heal, and even if they do, the wound cannot be closed completely. A swirling black hole conceals the face of the young woman, impossible to identify the person behind it. Once entering the labor system, identity, uniqueness, love, and dreams will be swallowed by the massive force of the giant black hole (capitalism). Everyone is merely a tiny speck of dust in the universe that is rushing forward at the speed of light, without any true destination. The grand universe moves through millions of dust particles, yet dust remains just dust at the end of the day, never valued or seen. The canvas is tattered, like a soul being violently torn into pieces. The cross-stitching technique conveys the repetitive system. Grandma Manthana's story happened nearly fifty years ago, but in the present day, where capitalism blooms as if fed with flower-accelerating fertilizer morning and night, there are still child and female laborers who must suffer and experience what Grandma used to face, or even worse, without any care or welfare from the government, whether domestically or abroad.

Hold out, my dearest star

An original story about the tragic romance of Zora, the goddess of light.
Zora, one of the thousand daughters of the grand universe, is responsible for giving light to newborn and weak stars. Her favorite planet is Earth because it harbors humans, the only living beings in the universe who are not immortal. She is fascinated by living like humans, whose every day has value, purpose, and an end—unlike her, who gives light to giant rocks day in and day out. She dreams of the end of this mundane life. However, falling in love with a female human hunter named Evangeline made her boring days disappear. Yet, it wasn't long before the scandal reached the ears of the universe. She was imprisoned and punished, with her lover's arrow pierced right through the middle of her chest, and Evan was killed immediately after the universe found out. This caused Zora to suffer in excruciating pain for eternity, waiting for her Evangeline to return and break the curse.

Lyla

A digital illustration about an original character named Lyla, who faced a lot of hardships in life just because she's a trans woman. This piece was created to embrace the beauty of trans bodies and the transition journey.

Trans people have always existed and always will.
