Shang Ru Tsai is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Taiwan. His creative work covers key visuals for music events and films, album packaging, physical and digital publications, as well as brand and exhibition identities.
In illustration, he uses compositional tension, contrasts between clarity and blur, and rich textures to show a rational sensibility within a restrained image, capturing the emotion of a scene.
His work has received recognition from international awards, including Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, 3x3, Booooooom Illustration Awards, and IlloBoom!.

Farewell to the Radiant Spring

The work is the key visual for the band “Who Cares” tours. I want to present the idea that when we reach the destination of our life's journey, we realize that it's not the end, but the beginning of something new.

Where the Dog Follows

​​This illustration was inspired by the song "The Place Where Moonlight Falls" by the Taiwanese band Wayne's So Sad. The intro hit me like a bullseye. Even in the bright sun, those with a broken heart see the world in grey—like living under a permanent solar eclipse. As for the "flying dog"? It's the song's biggest mystery. Lead singer Hsu Cheng-Tai once said the dog approached him while he was sitting on the curb after a dentist visit. Touching its soft fur gave him a moment of true comfort.

This illustration is inspired by the film adaptation of "The Book Thief" ,which presents the striking contrast between hope and mortality.

Inspired by the Japanese film "April Story". It reflects the tender innocence of a young girl's secret crush, blooming softly like the spring flowers around her.

Disco Entelechy

Inspired by the album Fabulous Forever by the Thai band Suppergoods. Deeply rooted in Black music, their sound has always been defined by joyful, infectious grooves. Venturing into electronic music, their new album builds a Future Retro aesthetic on a foundation of T-Funk. It is a distant salute to their 60s and 70s idols—from Donna Summer and Erykah Badu to the cosmic funk of Parliament-Funkadelic. Lead singer My delivers thick, precision vocals that weave through psychedelic tones, guiding listeners back to their primal instinct for movement. Even in Thailand's 2025 indie scene, this remains a bold and singular sonic experiment.
