Silly Gilly Daily is the first in a series of illustrated books by Jakarta-based artist and author Naela Ali, introducing her beloved character, Gilly, a soft, thoughtful, and slightly clumsy girl with a big inner world. Told through simple line drawings and quiet musings, the book gently captures the beauty in ordinary days, overthinking, and emotional honesty.

Since its debut in 2018, Gilly’s story has continued in two more books: Silly Gilly Daily: Stay at Home (2021), which reflects her quiet pandemic days, and Gilly’s Notes on Life (2025), a tender reflection on growth and life’s gentle missteps.

Now translated into Vietnamese and featured at the Taipei Illustration Fair 2025, Gilly’s soft, relatable world continues to comfort readers who feel a little too much—and that’s okay.
