Hello, I'm LUKYANG, a Sustainability designer from Thailand. My hobby, I love experimenting with materials made from packaging waste and natural ingredients, creating works such as paper from flowers and colors derived from food. ETC

So I'm need to showcase these materials in mixed media art at BKKIF , telling stories that intertwine food culture, the environment, and my personal memories.

Waste Pochana : Khanom Tokyo

I think “Khanom Tokyo” have changed a lot from the old days. When I was a child, I remember everyone would stand and wait for the vendor to draw different shapes on the snack, based on what the kids wanted, eagerly watching the vendor's process.

But nowadays, no one waits around anymore, and I hardly see anyone asking for a drawing either. Maybe it’s because of the rush of modern life, those moments have faded away...

*Ingredients :
(1. The batter is made from recycled paper sourced from paper bags.
(2.The fried egg is made from reused paper and pineapple leaf paper.
(3.The sausage is made from safflower paper.
(4.The minced pork is made from recycled paper sourced from paper bags.

*Technique : Paper Mache.

Waste Pochana : Blackchin tilapia

The creation of this fish was inspired by the black-chin tilapia, which is currently an invasive alien species in Thailand. I used waste from packaging materials that are durable and take a long time to decompose, symbolizing the resilience of the black-chin tilapia itself...

*Ingredients :
(1. The body of the fish is made from bubble mailer packaging.
(2. The fins and tail are made from laminated plastic bags.

(All materials are non-recyclable waste.)

*Technique : Fold.

Waste Pochana : Breakfast

Some people think that breakfast is a small matter, something they can skip. But in reality, if you have a truly delicious breakfast one day, you’ll remember that taste for a long time...

*Ingredients :
(1. The fried egg is made from plastic bags and pineapple paper.
(2. The sausage is made from safflower paper.

*Technique : Paper Mache.

Waste Pochana : I'm OK

No matter what I've been through, even if things get a little bent or twisted, everything still works out just fine...

*Ingredients :
(1. A well-used, dented frying pan.
(2. A fried egg made from reused paper and pineapple leaf paper.

*Technique : Paper Mache.

Waste Pochana : Miang Kham Bua Luang

As a child, I didn’t like eating "Mieng Kham" because of the abundance of vegetables. However, this dish makes me want to try it again, as the soft hues of the lotus petals have opened my mind to giving it another chance.
“Therefore, being open to trying something again that you once rejected isn’t such a bad thing.”

*Ingredients :
(1. The lotus petals are made from Chrysanthemum paper.
(2. The shrimp is made from sugarcane paper.
(3. The various accompaniments are made from packaging waste.

*Technique : Fold.

Waste Pochana : Shrimp Dumplings

In reality, I made these two shrimp dumplings as a pair of lovers...

*Ingredients :
(1. The dumpling wrappers are made from corn paper.
(2. The shrimp filling is made from marigold paper.

*Technique : Fold.

Waste Pochana : Deep-Fried

Does anyone else feel the same way? Whenever I eat something crispy and fried, I feel an instant boost of happiness, like I'm filled with energy. It's like this deep-fried lightbulb just plug it in, and it lights up immediately!...

*Ingredients :
This piece is made from rubber scraps waste from a mattress factory.

*Technique : Modeling.

Waste Pochana : Chili fire cracker

course, when you see chili, you instantly think of its fiery heat, like a bomb ready to ignite at any moment.
Good thing I managed to put it out in time, or it would’ve been a disaster!

*Ingredients :
(1. Chili made from waste cardboard boxes.
(2. Explosive fuse made from paper bag handles.

*Technique : Fold.

Waste Pochana : Meatballs

Sometimes I wonder if those meatballs skewered together tightly feel cramped, or if they actually enjoy being together.

But no matter what, no one can eat them because these meatballs are made from cacao leaves paper.

*Ingredients :
The meatballs are made from cacao leaves paper.

*Technique : Paper Mache.

Waste Pochana : Dinner with crayons color

Whenever I go to a restaurant and see a chef beautifully plating the food, I often hear people say, 'It looks so good, I don’t even want to eat it.' But in the end, they always finish the meal.
So, do they want to eat it or not?

One thing’s for sure, this dish isn't edible because the food on this plate is actually made from crayons color from food is my product...

*Ingredients :
(1. Red color made from chili.
(2. Green color made from pandan leaves.
(3. Yellow color made from pumpkin.

*Technique : Making crayons color.
