2023 G(IF)reeting:

A greeting card designed for both print (Black & White) and digital (.GIF) formats, featuring a colorful version.

FINDING Cat(s) in a labyrinth

This artwork is designed to represent both the primary wellspring of inspiration for most of my works and my own character within a single image. My aim is that my work can interact with viewers on a deeper level through observation, encouraging them to explore rather than merely glancing at it. I want my work to convey a story without relying on words, transcending language barriers.

Some people describe my work as “Wimmelbild” which means “hidden object illustration”in German or “Doodle artwork”.
Within this labyrinth you’ll find elements from daily life, and, of course,
“many cats”

Ice Ice Baby

Over the past year, I have primarily focused on “LIVE” illustration work. One such project involved creating a window display for an ice-cream shop, a temporary artwork. The central concept was to showcase common ingredients, ice-cream flavors, and the word “ice cream” in various languages.

Stuttgart Puzzle

An illustration for a puzzle with the concept of humorously depicting the city of Stuttgart for its local residents. The track in this illustration, reminiscent of a board game, represents real directions one would take when visiting the city. It features iconic landmarks, symbols, art sculptures, as well as some hidden elements, such as a pretzel.

“5”

A poster for the 5th-anniversary comic festival in Stuttgart, for which I handled both the illustration and graphic design. Inside the “5” the festival program is showcased, featuring events such as comic readings, satellite exhibitions, and more. It includes playful elements like representations of “5” in different languages and comic-related imagery. Additionally, famous speeches from classic French comics like Tintin and Asterix are incorporated.

City and the culture of remembrance

This is a digital version of my graphic recording (Live Illustration) created during an event. It visually represents the audience's ideas about how they envision the future culture of remembrance in Stuttgart in 2030.

In my Place

This work was used to promote my empowerment drawing workshop in Berlin, where I served as a workshop moderator. The workshop centered around the theme of “my place in Berlin,” regardless of whether Berlin was the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd hometown for the participants. Throughout the workshop, we wandered and sketched in various locations, emphasizing both the visible and invisible elements within the city.

Wimmelboob23

A collaborative charity project with ceramic artist Jasmin from Cologne. Jasmin organized and crafted “boob plant pots” in collaboration with more than 10 artists each year. All painted pots will be auctioned off in the first round in October 2023.

This was my first experience drawing on clay in a cylindrical form, which greatly inspired me to explore drawing on various other materials and forms.

For this project, my illustration was inspired by “delftware”, a famous Dutch pottery known for its use of blue and white color.

Community(?)

Have you ever noticed that the person you meet online isn't always the same as the person you meet in real life? Can you recall them as their “real” selves?
During Zoom meetings and online seminars since the pandemic, I randomly sketched people from the chats and compiled my sketches. This work is a part of my larger collection.

31

This work was inspired by my personal feeling that life is akin to a calendar without a month or year, an unceasing counting from 1 to 31 (or 28, 29, 30) until the end arrives.
