| Phayanchana, we worked for more a decade, but the brand has been established in 2022, based in Bangkok, Thailand. Phayanchana is a thai word which means “alphabet” in english. So, that’s the reason why we started working on a collection to turn 44 thai alphabets into fun graphic illustrations. We aim to educate both of Thais and foreigners about our culture to be widely known and break down the language barrier through our designs by using Thai language. According to our new collections which will be presented to BKKIF is name “Wannaroop” or “Concrete Poetry” in english. Concrete poetry conveyed by graphic patterns of letters, words, or symbols (word to image). It is sometimes referred to as visual poetry, a term that has now developed a distinct meaning of its own. All images were created from favourite stuffs that many people like and me either. | |
BANANA / Klauy “PHAYANCHANA ETCETERA”, 2023
I have always love the yellow fruits such as bananas, pineapples and mangoes. When I saw them I felt refreshed and energized. Bananas are really energy-boosting fruits and yellow itself gives a freshness when you see it. On the other hands, someone will think about Thai idiom that relate to Banana, which means “a piece of cake” in english idiom.
SIAMESE FIGHTING FISH / Pla Kat “PHAYANCHANA ETCETERA”, 2023
The Siamese fighting fish, commonly known as the betta is a freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia. Bettas are the most popular pet due to their diverse and a vibrant array of colours and tail types. Bettas are well known for being highly territorial, with males prone to attacking each other if housed in the same tank; without a means of escape, this will usually result in death of one or both.
PARROT / Nok Kaew “PHAYANCHANA ETCETERA”, 2023
When I was a kid, I was surprised by a parrot that they can imitate our voice and have colourful feathers. Parrots are the smartest and beautiful birds so they are became a popular pet easily.
BEETLES / Duang “PHAYANCHANA ETCETERA”, 2023
There are many insects in childhood memories, there must be a beetle among of them. Beetles are a large insect with a bold dark body and their figures are fantastic to me. They look so cool.
FIRE / Fai “PHAYANCHANA ETCETERA”, 2023
Fire can be represented from many point of views. Some may refer to emotions; anger, envy or sometimes like a spark of energy to do something.
CAKE / Cake “PHAYANCHANA ETCETERA”, 2023
Cakes may be classified according to the occasion for which you are intended. For examples, birthday cakes, wedding cakes, Christmas cakes, or any occasions. Cake are involved since you were a baby until the last day.
GIRAFFE / Giraffe "PHAYANCHANA ZOO", 2023
Giraffe is one of my favourite animals with a longest neck, cute face, look lovely and friendly but has a hidden fierceness.
HIPPOPOTAMUS / Hippo "PHAYANCHANA ZOO", 2023
This image was inspired by a famous hippo in Thailand named "Mali". Mali is the well known to be the most generous and longest living 58 years old hippo in Thailand. As a chubby and cuddly appearance it's easy for children and adults like us to fall in love with her.
